The Good, The Bad. And The Injured

From being stunned by the final of the Texans-Colts game to being disappointed by Roethlisberger's performance, I experienced every single emotion there was today.  Today marked the 10 year anniversary of 9/11 and everyone had their chance to reply  to "Where were you when...."

The opening ceremony was bigger than i could imagine.  Football was indeed back and week one was here but to start the NFL season on 9/11 made it much more exciting.  From getting chilled from the moment of silence to standing proud when the national anthem was sang to chanting USA USA when the jets flew over the stadium---we knew this was right.  We needed football.

With that being said HOW BOUT SOME FOOTBALL TALK!!!

Pittsburgh 7 - Baltimore 35
You would think that with Pittsburgh losing the Super Bowl to Green Bay that they would have some fire or motivation to get back...or at lease show that they are hungry.  Yea yea it's week one but it can never be to early to show how hungry you are.  Apparently, this did not happen.  Pittsburgh behind the helm of Ben, committed 5 turnovers and only scored 7 points.  With Bodin, Ray Rice scoring a td each and Ed Reed (a product of THE U) recorded not one but  TWO interceptions.  These playmakers made their presence known, the Raven shook, rattled and rolled the Steelers.

Atlanta 12 Chicago 30
Jay cutler made up for his apparent dismissal of the team last year in the playoffs against the Packers.  Cutler finished the day with 312 passing yards and threw for 2 touchdowns.  One on a beautiful screen play to Matt Fore for 52 yards.  Atlanta on the other hand had major problems getting their offense rolling.  With a pro bowler in Roddy Roddy White and an up in coming wide receiver in Julio Jones, the Falcons should have scored more than 12 points.  Maybe Matty Ice throws were too brrr.

Cincinnati 27 - Cleveland 17
This game did not get interesting until the 4th quarter when Cedric the HITMAN Benson took off for a 75 yd touchdown run.  Other than that....no comment

Indianapolis 7 - Houston 34
Who said the Texans won't beat the Colts two years in a row?  Who said they couldn't score 30 + points on the Colts defense.  Who said the Colts were only going to score 7 points in 4 quarters?   Well if this is you...I suppose you didn't take head to the score.  Never mind the Peyton-less offense, the Colts defense was atrocious and without Peyton playing, the Colts could end up being in last place in the AFC South.

Tennessee 14 - Jacksonville 16
Jack Del Rio has a lot riding on Sims and Gabbert.  With the shocking release of Gerrard, management has informed Del Rio that if the Jaguars do not make the playoffs this year, he is out as coach.  Well he took note of that by winning his first game.  Chris Johnson finished the day with under 50 yards rushing.  I take it that all that holding out Johnson did made it difficult to practice with his team...hence the terrible day CJ2k had.  Should have listened to your GM and reported to camp.

Buffalo 41 - Kansas City 7
Memo to the Kansas City Chiefs--PRESEASON IS OVER...THE REGULAR SEASON HAS STARTED. Fitzpatrick and Stevie Johnson had a field day against KC Defense.  Scoring 41 points has the Buffalo Bills the talk of the town....in Buffalo that is.  I expected more out of Cassel and the Chiefs with weapons like Bowe and Charles.  Let's see if any of these teams can duplicate what happened this week.

Philadelphia 31 - St Louis 13
Scoring on their first play with a 42 yard run by Stephen Jackson, it looked as if the "Dream Team" was becoming a Nightmare.  The first play the defense gave up a touchdown??  Let's fastforward to after that play---Philadelphia's offense began to step up with deep passes from Vick to DJax and McCoy ran wild and scored two touchdowns.  The Eagles defense did a great job of containing Braford, even knocking him out the game. He would later come back but the damage was already done. I guess the Dream team has reemerged.

Detroit 27 - Tampa Bay 20
Before the season started, Detroit was projected to make the playoffs.  PLAYOFFS?? Yes playoffs.  Well after seeing this score, i guess they were right.  Detroit's defense held Tampa Bay to one touchdown and eventually knocked Josh Freeman out of the game--for a couple of plays.  Freeman eventually returned only to lose to the Lions. THE LIONS?? Yes the Lions.

New York Giants 14 - Washington 28
Hail the Redskins.  Great divisional battle.  Newly admitted starter, Grossman, silenced the "haters" with his performance against the Tuck-less Giants.  Grossman completed 21 of 34 passes for a whopping 305 yards and 2 touchdowns.  He relied on his tight end, Fred Davis who caught a career-105 receiving yards.  Manning on the other hand had a decent game completing 18 of 32 passes for 268.  Sadly, the Redskins defense sacked him 4 times.

Seattle 17 - San Francisco  33
They kicked to Ted Ginn Jr, he scored.  They punted to Ted Ginn Jr, he scored again!! He gave the 49ers hope after scoring 2 game saving touchdown.  He ran back a kickoff 102 yards and moments later took a punt 55 yards to put San Francisco 33-17.  That was about the most exciting part of the game! :)

Minnesota 17 - San Diego 24
San Diego Super Chargers made their presence on a team who they play once every four years.  Rivers

Carolina 21 - Arizona 28
Cam....oh Cam.  Besides Matthew Stafford, Cam Newton had the best ROOKIE performance.  Cam, a ROOKIE, started his first NFL game.....ON THE ROAD.  Cam, a ROOKIE, threw for over 400 yards, 2 touchdown and a rushing touchdown.  Cam, a ROOKIE, did not look like a rookie we are use to.  You would think the Panthers won this game with Cam, a ROOKIE, with fantastic numbers at the helm--Well they didn't.

Dallas 24New York Jets 27
J-E-T-S- JETS JETS JETS were the one who stole the cookie from the Cowboys' cookie jar.  If the NFL changed their timing of games to 3 quarter, the Cowboys would have came out the winner, but they do not and they never will.  The Cowboys suffered first time in their history a loss when leading by 14 points in the 4th quarter.  2 HUGE plays went the Jets way with Joe Mc Knight blocking a Matt Briar punt and returning it for a touchdown: 24-24.  With less than one minute to play, ROMO threw an interception and NONE OTHER THAN DARRELLE REVIS came up with the prize.  Nick Folk, a former Cowboy himself, kicked the game winner (50 yards) and walked off the field like WHAT NOW!!

THE GOOD
Houston Texans, Baltimore Ravens

THE BAD
Pittsburgh Offense, Dallas Cowboys 4th quarter demise, Peyton-less Colts

THE INJURED
Bradford and S. Jackson
